Ft. Collins Family Dentistry

If you come from a close-knit family, then you’re used to sharing a lot: the bathroom, the car, the last piece of pie and even the occasional cold virus, unfortunately. But luckily at Aspen Dental Care, we make it possible to share your dentist, too. As a family dentist, Dr. Shiloh Lindsey is educated and experienced at providing all of the dental care you and the other members of your family need to have beautiful smiles and a healthy mouth. So, whether your child is coming for his or her first visit to the dentist or you need to have a cavity filled or a crown set, you’ll find the treatment you need all under one roof at Aspen Dental Care.

Hygiene and Exams

The first step in caring for you and your family’s smiles is a dental checkup. Scheduled every six months, these appointments help you enjoy a clean smile and a fresh mouth and they help us track your oral health. With this regularity, we can monitor the condition of your teeth and gums and notice changes more readily.

We are on the lookout for tooth decay, and we will visually examine and probe each tooth and annually take digital x-rays to find decay happening below the enamel surface or between your teeth. One of our gentle hygienists will also measure the depth of gum pockets around your teeth; pockets that are deeper than four centimeters may indicate the presence of gum disease.

Bruxism and TMJ

If you or anyone else in your family grinds or clenches their teeth, a condition dentists call bruxism, we can detect this during your checkup, too. Grinding and clenching may cause teeth to become more worn than usual and you may notice that your teeth are more sensitive. In addition, bruxism can lead to TMJ dysfunction, which affects the jaw joints that allow you to open and close your mouth. For bruxism and TMJ, Dr. Lindsey can prescribe a custom-fitted nightguard, which is a comfortable oral appliance worn during sleep when grinding and clenching most often occur.

Patient Education

As a family dentist, Dr. Lindsey wants all of her patients to have all the information they need to make educated decisions about their oral health care. She takes the time to answer questions, explain treatment plans and make helpful suggestions for how you and your family can get the most out of your oral hygiene routine at home.
