Millions of US adults with dental insurance choose to forego regular preventive dentistry visits. Patients give numerous reasons why they avoid our office, but some of the most common are dental fear or anxiety, financial stress, and lack of time. At Aspen Dental Care, we invite you and your family to reconsider making visits to our office twice a year part of your routine. Not only are patients who visit us regularly more likely to keep healthy, natural smiles for a lifetime, but regular office visits actually assist in diminishing dental anxiety and save patients time and money.

In recent years, the dental field has shifted its focus from treating oral health issues to preventing dental concerns. This preventive focus allows dentists to diagnose and treat oral health issues at the earliest possible stage meaning more people than ever before are able to keep their natural teeth for a lifetime. At Aspen Dental Care, Dr. Shiloh Lindsey recommends twice annual dental checkups and cleanings in order for patients to achieve and maintain the optimal level of oral health, and protect their smiles from more severe dental damage down the line.

Many parents may find it difficult to make oral care exciting and fun for their children. Getting your child to brush their teeth may be a feat you have to overcome every day. Though some parents have come up with inventive ways to make sure brushing your teeth is fun, some parents still may be questioning how they can get their kids to be excited about the experience. Dr. Shiloh Lindsey, being a believer in setting good oral care habits early on, has some suggestions for parents who want to make brushing teeth fun!
One of the more exciting things parents can do to make oral care fun for their children is to join them in the fun! Brushing your teeth with your children creates a wonderful bonding moment between you two. Showing your child how you brush your teeth, and letting them mimic you is a wonderful way to show them how proper oral care is done. Having fun toothbrushes are also a wonderful way to make oral care exciting for your kids! If your child has a favorite cartoon movie or superhero, having their toothbrushes coincide with that is a wonderful way to get them excited and eager to brush their teeth.
Having a yummy tasting toothpaste is another great way to get kids excited about oral care! There are so many types of toothpastes made just for children, helping them enjoy the experience much, much more. Having a singalong is another good way to get children excited about brushing their teeth. Children tend to learn and respond more to music than words, so making the experience a musical one is a sure way to get the on the right track of wanting to take care of their smile. No matter which option you choose, as long as you make the experience of good oral care a fun one for both you and your child, good things are sure to come!
