Dental implants are fast becoming the most recommend tooth replacement option available. Unlike other forms of tooth replacement that only restore the visible parts of the smile, implant posts are inserted below the gums where they mimic the healthy function of natural tooth roots, giving patients the healthy function and stability they need. However, implant supported restorations do come with a higher price tag than other restoration options. That means patients need to consider shopping around for the best price options for their implant supported tooth replacement plans. In this post, we’ll discuss some of the things to consider when looking for the most affordable dental implant tooth replacement options to put the smile back on your face without breaking the bank.

For decades, dentists have relied on dental crowns to repair damaged smiles and preserve healthy tooth structures. While the creation methods and materials have improved through the years, the idea remains the same. If patients have enough dental structure left to support a crown restoration, there’s no need for them to lose their entire tooth. Today, we can also use dental crowns to protect root canal treated teeth, as part of the tooth replacement process, and for cosmetic improvement. In fact, many dentist’s offices even offer same day dental crowns to make the restoration process a breeze.

Tinnitus, ringing or buzzing sounds in the ear, has been affecting humans for thousands of years, and as long as people have been experiencing this odd auditory trouble, others have been trying to cure it. Some of the strange tinnitus treatments offered include pouring rose extract into the ear, filling the ear canal with earth worms boiled in goose grease, and strapping hot loaves of bread to the ears. Today, our understanding of tinnitus is a little more advanced, and hopefully, the available treatments are too.

Yes, there is a right and wrong way to brush your teeth. Surprise! We bet you didn’t know that. There’s a lot more to the process than simply smothering toothpaste on your brush and brushing your teeth. There are angles and movements involved. Your teeth are shaped in such a way that a brush must be used on the front, sides, and back of your teeth. You would be surprised just how many patients are unsure of the proper way to brush their teeth. Also, many patients forgo flossing. It’s just as important as brushing your teeth and can help keep tooth decay, plaque and tartar off of your tooth’s surface.
At our office in Ft. Collins, CO, we go out of our way to help our patients understand how important it is to practice good dental hygiene habits at home. These habits include brushing and flossing correctly. Dr. Lindsey is the dentist Ft. Collins, CO residents can trust. She wants your smile to look and feel as clean as possible, and learning how to properly brush your teeth will help achieve those results. The first and foremost obligation of a family dentist is the prevention of dental problems in the first place. Doing so helps you—the patient—avoid bigger problems and costlier bills further down the road. With this in mind, Dr. Shiloh Lindsey and her staff at Aspen Dental Care in Fort Collins, CO, would like to see you and each member of your family every six months for dental checkups. Not only is this in keeping with the recommendation of the American Dental Association, this regularity allows us to carefully monitor your oral health and notice any concerning changes.
Dental Checkups for Healthy Teeth and Gums
When you or a family member comes to Aspen Dental Care for a checkup—and Dr. Lindsey would like to start seeing the youngest in your family around the time when they turn two years old—we will, of course, clean your teeth and remove any plaque buildup. Beyond that, we will closely examine each tooth for any symptoms of decay and when necessary, we’ll take digital x-rays to find imperceptible spots of decay as well as possible infection below the gum line. We’ll also carefully evaluate the health of your gums and check for any of the early signs of gum disease.
If we do find any problems, then we will explain what needs to be done to solve the problem, so you understand the treatment that is required to restore your oral health. For example, in the case of gum disease, we may recommend scaling to remove tartar from below the gum line, root planing to smooth rough root surfaces where plaque can more easily adhere, and if infection is present, then we’ll apply a topical antibiotic treatment. We can repair a cavity with a tooth-colored filling or we’ll restore function to a cracked or severely decayed tooth with a porcelain crown, inlay or onlay.
