4 Useful Tips When Shopping for Dental Implants

June 30, 2018

Dentist showing patient implant modelDental implants are fast becoming the most recommend tooth replacement option available. Unlike other forms of tooth replacement that only restore the visible parts of the smile, implant posts are inserted below the gums where they mimic the healthy function of natural tooth roots, giving patients the healthy function and stability they need. However, implant supported restorations do come with a higher price tag than other restoration options. That means patients need to consider shopping around for the best price options for their implant supported tooth replacement plans. In this post, we’ll discuss some of the things to consider when looking for the most affordable dental implant tooth replacement options to put the smile back on your face without breaking the bank.

4 Reasons You May Need a Dental Crown

September 10, 2017

model of tooth with dental crownFor decades, dentists have relied on dental crowns to repair damaged smiles and preserve healthy tooth structures. While the creation methods and materials have improved through the years, the idea remains the same. If patients have enough dental structure left to support a crown restoration, there’s no need for them to lose their entire tooth. Today, we can also use dental crowns to protect root canal treated teeth, as part of the tooth replacement process, and for cosmetic improvement. In fact, many dentist’s offices even offer same day dental crowns to make the restoration process a breeze.

woman covering ears and frowningTinnitus, ringing or buzzing sounds in the ear, has been affecting humans for thousands of years, and as long as people have been experiencing this odd auditory trouble, others have been trying to cure it. Some of the strange tinnitus treatments offered include pouring rose extract into the ear, filling the ear canal with earth worms boiled in goose grease, and strapping hot loaves of bread to the ears. Today, our understanding of tinnitus is a little more advanced, and hopefully, the available treatments are too.

Fort Collins Dentist Dr. Lindsey Wants to See You Twice in 2017!

When’s the last time you saw the dentist? The correct answer to that question is one, two, three, four, five or six months ago—but not seven! The American Dental Association advocates for twice yearly dental checkups and Fort Collins dentist Dr. Shiloh Lindsey agrees. With this regularity, we can closely monitor the condition of your teeth and gums in order to spot any concerning changes before they get out of hand. Get Clean and Healthy Teeth with a Checkup We know that you care about the smiles in your family—that’s why you make sure everyone brushes at least twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and flosses, too. However, that’s simply not enough. At a dental checkup, our hygienists have the proper instruments and take the time to clean each one of your teeth individually. We’re able to remove surface stains that might eventually mar the appearance of your otherwise white smile. We also floss between your teeth to remove plaque buildup along the gum line. These procedures not only enhance the beauty of your smile, but also help to ensure that you have healthy teeth. Pass the Test with a Dental Exam In addition to cleaning and polishing your teeth, we also examine your teeth, your gums and your entire oral cavity at one of your regular dental checkups. We do this in order to locate problems early when they are more easily treated. For example, Dr. Lindsey visually checks each tooth and examines annual digital x-rays. She does this to find the signs that indicate the beginning of a cavity, a hidden crack that threatens the integrity of a tooth or an existing filling in need of repair or replacement. In each of these cases, early intervention can prevent a procedure that is more invasive and more costly. Shhh…It’s Gum Disease Gum disease is a quiet problem. Very often the early warning signs can go unnoticed. To spot gingivitis—the first phase of gum disease—as soon as possible, our hygienist will measure the depth of gum pockets, which are the areas immediately surrounding each tooth. A depth greater than four millimeters may be a sign of gum disease. If present, Dr. Lindsey may recommend that you follow a more stringent cleaning routine at home or in the case of more advanced gum disease, periodontal therapy in our office may be necessary. Finally, we’ll examine your entire oral cavity as well as your cheeks, lips and throat for the early warning signs of oral or pharyngeal cancer. Both of these cancers are highly treatable and curable when discovered early. Call Our Office Today If it’s been more than six months since your last dental checkup, then call Dr. Lindsey at Aspen Dental Care to schedule an appointment.
