Dental implants are fast becoming the most recommend tooth replacement option available. Unlike other forms of tooth replacement that only restore the visible parts of the smile, implant posts are inserted below the gums where they mimic the healthy function of natural tooth roots, giving patients the healthy function and stability they need. However, implant supported restorations do come with a higher price tag than other restoration options. That means patients need to consider shopping around for the best price options for their implant supported tooth replacement plans. In this post, we’ll discuss some of the things to consider when looking for the most affordable dental implant tooth replacement options to put the smile back on your face without breaking the bank.

For decades, dentists have relied on dental crowns to repair damaged smiles and preserve healthy tooth structures. While the creation methods and materials have improved through the years, the idea remains the same. If patients have enough dental structure left to support a crown restoration, there’s no need for them to lose their entire tooth. Today, we can also use dental crowns to protect root canal treated teeth, as part of the tooth replacement process, and for cosmetic improvement. In fact, many dentist’s offices even offer same day dental crowns to make the restoration process a breeze.

Tinnitus, ringing or buzzing sounds in the ear, has been affecting humans for thousands of years, and as long as people have been experiencing this odd auditory trouble, others have been trying to cure it. Some of the strange tinnitus treatments offered include pouring rose extract into the ear, filling the ear canal with earth worms boiled in goose grease, and strapping hot loaves of bread to the ears. Today, our understanding of tinnitus is a little more advanced, and hopefully, the available treatments are too.

As we move through life, most of us can’t help but notice changes in our body and often, consequently, our heath. But did you know that changes are happening in the mouth, too? Naturally, these can affect a person’s oral health. Therefore, proper dental hygiene at home combined with professional care is vitally important for seniors. The office of Dr. Shiloh Lindsey in Ft. Collins, CO, is proud to include caring general dentistry designed especially for adults and senior citizens.
As people age, normal dental concerns may become more pronounced. For instance, seniors are more prone to periodontal disease (gum disease). This may be due to a lifetime of poor dental hygiene, ill-fitting oral appliances, or diseases such as cancer or diabetes. Also, teeth’s supporting bone structure is more likely to shift as we grow older, making an uneven bite or tooth loss more likely. Other conditions that may develop include inflamed gum tissue, dry mouth or oral thrush.
The most important step in preventing these oral health concerns is regular check-ups with Dr. Lindsey. She and her staff will not only clean and polish your teeth, but at the time of your check-up they’ll also examine your mouth for the early signs of gum disease, conduct a cancer screening procedure, check for tooth decay and, if necessary, take x-rays in order to see decay that would otherwise not be visible to the naked eye. Dr. Lindsey can also offer suggestions to make seniors’ dental hygiene routines at home more convenient. For example, for people with limited manual dexterity due to arthritis, there are specially designed toothbrushes with larger handles that are easier for seniors to grasp.
If you or a senior citizen you care for is due for a visit to the dentist, call the office of Dr. Shiloh Lindsey in Ft. Collins, CO, today. We can take care of all of your general and preventive dentistry needs. Our office conveniently serves patients in Greeley, Longmont, Windsor, Loveland and the surrounding communities.

Many parents may find it difficult to make oral care exciting and fun for their children. Getting your child to brush their teeth may be a feat you have to overcome every day. Though some parents have come up with inventive ways to make sure brushing your teeth is fun, some parents still may be questioning how they can get their kids to be excited about the experience. Dr. Shiloh Lindsey, being a believer in setting good oral care habits early on, has some suggestions for parents who want to make brushing teeth fun!
One of the more exciting things parents can do to make oral care fun for their children is to join them in the fun! Brushing your teeth with your children creates a wonderful bonding moment between you two. Showing your child how you brush your teeth, and letting them mimic you is a wonderful way to show them how proper oral care is done. Having fun toothbrushes are also a wonderful way to make oral care exciting for your kids! If your child has a favorite cartoon movie or superhero, having their toothbrushes coincide with that is a wonderful way to get them excited and eager to brush their teeth.
Having a yummy tasting toothpaste is another great way to get kids excited about oral care! There are so many types of toothpastes made just for children, helping them enjoy the experience much, much more. Having a singalong is another good way to get children excited about brushing their teeth. Children tend to learn and respond more to music than words, so making the experience a musical one is a sure way to get the on the right track of wanting to take care of their smile. No matter which option you choose, as long as you make the experience of good oral care a fun one for both you and your child, good things are sure to come!
