The beautiful thing about children is the fact they are carefree and, often times, not too hard to please. It is very important to not underestimate the importance of a child’s smile, as their teeth are just as susceptible to decay and harm as ours, if not more so! At our office, we understand the importance of your child’s teeth, and we are ready to start your child off in the right direction of excellent oral health. Dr. Shiloh Lindsey understands that not all children love visiting their dentist, and our knowledgeable team is ready to embrace your child with open arms and warm smiles.
Children’s dentistry is very important, as it plays an important role in making sure any existing dental issue is taken care of before it gets worse, as well as sets up your child for success for when they get older. One thing you experience a lot in children’s dentistry are dental sealants. Because your little one’s tooth is more susceptible to cavities and decay than yours, sealants offer protection by covering the grooves of the tooth with a plastic coating, saving the tooth from harm in the future. Sealants are applied mostly to the teeth toward the back of the mouth, as the grooves are deeper and more susceptible to bacteria growth and deterioration.
Along with sealants, fluoride treatments are also a major aspect in children’s dentistry. Fluoride plays a major role in delaying tooth decay, as well as acting as an agent for attracting other important minerals to your child’s smile, like Calcium and Phosphate. With visits to your child’s dentist and making sure good oral care habits are set in place early on, there is nothing stopping your child from having a healthy, glorious smile that the whole family can be proud of!
